Learn to stay sane while melding creative endeavors and administrative necessities as you guide the artistic goals and direction of your
theatre. Providing the artistic vision, guidance, and coordination for a theatre is a big responsibility. It can be both rewarding and draining. Enter the Artistic Directors Conference! It provides training, peer support, and rejuvenation.
In an effort to avoid weekend performance conflicts, this conference will be held Sunday afternoon through Monday evening. It is open to persons, whatever their titles, who are responsible for the artistic direction of their theatres.
The purpose of the conference is to foster ongoing interchange with Artistic Directors and Producers, act as a catalyst to assist them in their artistic long-range planning, and encourage theatres to help one another re-envision more exciting ways to raise the bar for high quality theatre. It will be facilitated by Murray Chase, Artistic/Managing Director of the Venice (FL) Little Theatre.

The Artistic Directors Conference is designed to benefit each theatre's long range artistic vision. It has two objectives:
-
To improve the quality of local theatre by increasing resources and knowledge through discussion of an array of topics: managing artistic resources, developing your season, sharing directing techniques, collaborating with the design team, developing the American playwright, how to manage guest directors, managing and developing your volunteer actors, youth and senior theatre ideas, developing a minority volunteer base, and other hot topics chosen in advance by the participants.
-
To create a collegial atmosphere to dispel the sense of isolation often felt by artistic staff. To provide Artistic Directors time to think and refresh. After all, the best ideas happen when strong artists communicate and collaborate with other strong artists.
