AACTFest 2021: Monologue Competition
Come perform, come support your fellow actors, come speak the speech at AACTFest 2021!
Anyone registered for Virtual AACTFest 2021 can enter the AACTFest 2021 Monologue Competition, as well.
Registration for the Monologue Competition can be completed with your online festival registration. Participation is limited, so early registration is recommended. There is a $20 entry fee. Deadline to register for the competition is April 1, 2021.
Participants will submit a two-minute video of their monologue for adjudication and selection to the Monologue Competition Finals, which will be held live during Virtual AACTFest 2021.
Monologues must be memorized and should come from a published play by an established playwright, or a writer who has submitted a new script to a playwriting competition or for publication. Present a piece of any dramatic or comedic material not to exceed two minutes. No props, costumes, or effects of any kind will be allowed.
Our Adjudicator, Ron Cameron Lewis (photo, left) will select finalists from the preliminary rounds to perform in the Monologue Competition Finals. Each participant will receive written feedback and adjudication on their performance from Ron, and finalists will receive more intensive feedback from him for the festival performance. Finalists will be coached, then perform live. Each live performance will be preceded with a playing of the original recorded submission, so the audience can see a before-and-after.
An overall winner will be selected and will receive a $100 prize.
This is a unique opportunity to perform individually and receive feedback from an experienced acting teacher and adjudicator, to sharpen your monologue skills, and to network with other theatre artists.
