ABOUT MSL
Main Street LIVE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dynamic volunteer community theater in Trinidad, Colorado, and a leading arts organization in SE Colorado and NE New Mexico. As a primary driver in the arts community, Main Street LIVE produces an annual series of plays, a summer musical, a concert series, hosts community events, and partners with area theater companies for unique performances.
The theater design is a modified black box, with lighting and newly upgraded sound booth, seating for 110 patrons, a large mezzanine and additional support space. The Executive Director position is supported by a full-time Technical Director/Facility Manager, administrative staff, volunteer teams, and an engaged and supportive Board of Directors. Post-COVID patronage is strong and growing, featuring a number of show sellouts in the 2023 season.
ABOUT TRINIDAD
At 6,000 feet in elevation, historic Trinidad, Colorado proudly sits at the intersection of Colorado’s eastern plains and the magnificent Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains, and presides over the most traveled gateway to Colorado via Interstate 25. Its position on the historic Santa Fe Trail, along with mining and commerce history, and true and fanciful Old West stories, have produced a town steeped in history.
Present day Trinidad is a dynamic arts and recreational hub, bordering the 19,000 acre Fishers Peak State Park, supporting numerous art galleries, and hosting national activities such as the RAD Dirtfest bicycle competition. The city has made major investments in the Corazón de Trinidad Historic and Creative Districts, with strong commitments to the arts, including support of arts organizations and artist housing, and development of the new Space to Create facility. A short distance from Trinidad places you in the presence of everything from dinosaur tracks, volcanoes and dark sky stargazing, to snowcapped peaks with skiing, snowshoeing and hiking, to the major cities of Denver, Albuquerque and Santa Fe, and so much more – all under our 260 days of sun per year!
RESPONSIBILITIES of the Executive Director include:
Leadership and management of Main Street LIVE’s mission and business plan
Sponsor development/relations, grant writing, and development of revenue-generating performance opportunities
Marketing, community outreach, and public relations via all appropriate media sources
Collaboration with community arts leaders and organizations to develop/maximize arts opportunities within the larger market
Financial management, administrative and staff oversight
Consultation with the Artistic Direction structure within MSL to maximize community impact
Develop educational outreach within the adult and student community
Increase and strengthen the actor and technical pools within the larger community
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a combination of business management and theater work
Strong vision for community arts development, with skills and experience in fundraising, communication, and administration
EMPLOYMENT STATUS/SALARY
The Executive Director position serves as a 1099 Independent Contractor
Contract is for approximately $50,000 annually, renewable annually, no additional benefits provided. Trinidad features a lower cost of living than larger metro areas
Position start date is approximately June 1, 2024, negotiable
