The National Independent Film Association (NIFA) Awards also includes four categories for playwrights:

- NIFA Best Stage Play - Script (Over 30 Pages)
- NIFA Best Theatrical Play - Video (Under 30 Minutes)
- NIFA Best Theatrical Play - Video (Over 30 Minutes)
The 8th Annual NIFA Awards Show (Oct 3, 2026 - 7:30 PM-10 PM) will be held at Appleton Beer Factory in Appleton, Wisconsin, hosted by Festival Director & Founder Dan Davies.

The NIFA Awards comprise Lifetime Achievement Awards (our inaugural winners in 2019 - Sir Sean Connery - NIFA Lifetime Achievement Award henceforth The Connery Award, Neal McCoy - NIFA Musical Legend Award - The Real McCoy Award, Jeff Olm - NIFA Lifetime Achievement - Post-Production - The Olm Award & Michael Blake (awarded posthumously) NIFA Legend Award - The Blake Award and our unique film/TV/Screenplay/Stage Play categories. Our major categories consist of the NIFA Best Stage Play, NIFA Best Screenplay, NIFA Best Independent Film, NIFA Best International Film, NIFA Best Micro-Budget Film & NIFA Best Documentary Film.
