AACT is now accepting script submissions for AACT NewPlayFest 2028, a national program that supports the development, production, and publication of new plays in community theatres across the country.
Through AACT NewPlayFest, playwrights have the opportunity to see their unpublished, full-length plays produced as world premieres by selected community theatres. Winning plays will also be published in an anthology by Dramatic Publishing Company and made available for licensing for two years.
Submission Details
- Submissions are open May 1 through June 30, 2026.
- Submissions are limited to the first 350 scripts received.
- No fee for AACT member playwrights.
- $10 script processing fee for non-members.
- Only one script may be submitted per playwright.
Scripts are reviewed blindly by a national panel through a three-tiered review process. Finalists will be considered by selected producing theatres, who will choose the plays they will premiere.
AACT NewPlayFest is open to unpublished, non-musical, full-length plays written in English. Scripts must follow AACT NewPlayFest formatting guidelines and must not include the playwright’s name or identifying information.
