The Monologue Competition at AACTFest is always a standout event, and 2025 will be no exception! Whether you're performing, cheering on your peers, or learning from the sidelines, this competition offers a unique opportunity to perform solo on stage.
Participants will have the chance to perform individually, receiving feedback from an expert adjudicator while sharpening their skills and gaining confidence in front of a live audience. It's also a great opportunity to network with fellow actors and theatre professionals. The competition is open to anyone over 18, and the winner will take home a $100 prize!
Monologues must be memorized and come from a published play by an established writer or from a script submitted to a playwriting competition. You may perform either a dramatic or comedic piece, but the length should not exceed two minutes. Props, costumes, and effects are not permitted.
Preliminary rounds will take place on Wednesday, June 25, Thursday, June 26, and Friday, June 27. Finalists from each round will be selected by the adjudicators to perform in the finals on Saturday, with winners announced during the AACTFest closing awards ceremony.
To enter, you can register for the Monologue Competition when signing up for AACTFest or during the festival at the registration desk. Early registration is recommended as space is limited, and the entry fee is $25.
