JOB DESCRIPTION:
Are you looking for a position to learn more about how philanthropy fuels and grows the arts? As the Development Fellow, you will have an opportunity to receive hands-on training with the three teams that make up the Development Department-including Strategic Philanthropy (Individual), Institutional (Foundation, Corporate, and Government) Relations, and Operations and Events as well as other Arena Stage staff members. We are seeking an emerging arts leader who will benefit from fundraising experience and mentorship that will complement current skills and further long-term goals in arts leadership.

Arena Stage will provide the fellow with opportunities to develop skills in all areas of theater fundraising including:

Digital and print membership appeals
Major gift cultivation and research
Corporate sponsorships
Foundation partnerships and grant writing
Event planning and execution
Supporting donor engagement at every level, including board members
General administrative support
An ideal candidate is hardworking, does not back away from challenges, and should have the desire to work both independently and collaboratively to achieve Development department goals. A growth mindset is essential to your success! Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are needed in this role, and we value skills like social tactfulness, discretion, and the ability to maintain composure in high pressure situations. An understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite is required and Tessitura or a similar donor database is helpful.

Additional Expectations: Occasionally, some special events may take place outside of regular office hours.

Please Note: The Allen Lee Hughes Fellowship Program requires a time commitment of 40 hours/weekly and does not include on-stage opportunities or allow for additional work to be conducted during assigned fellowship hours.
