JOB DESCRIPTION:
Lake Forest High School is seeking a part-time Theater Manager (0.5 FTE/20 hours per week).
Description: The Theater Manager is responsible for supporting all school-based programs and events that require the use of LFHS Theaters. This includes courses, extracurricular activities, and other performances or events that require the use of the LFHS theaters. Use of the theaters during school hours will be coordinated with the Technology Department. The Theater Manager will be responsible for the box office, theater budget, purchasing supplies, and coordinating maintenance and repair.
The Theater Manager will be eligible to apply for additional stipends (Fall Play, Winter Play, and Spring Musical) which are responsible for sound, lighting, and set design for all creative events and oversee the student Tech Crew.
Benefits:
Starting Range - $42 - $47/Hour based on experience
Schedule - 20 hours per week, Mon - Fri or Tue - Sat, depending on the event schedule
Work Year - 10 months (mid-August through mid-June)
Reimbursement - up to $1300 annually for tuition reimbursement
Retirement - IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) - the district pays the full district premium, and employees pay the 4.5% employee contribution
Essential Functions:
Hires, trains, and supervises student workers and seasonal theater staff
Coordinates and collaborates with performance, event and theater advisors
Maintains schedule for all theater spaces at Lake Forest High School
Oversees setups for all activities, presentations, concerts and events in the theaters
Creates and oversees safety protocols for theaters and related support areas
Oversees and assists in the maintenance of the theaters
Works collaboratively with the Director of Buildings and Grounds to responsibly manage the board accounts for theater maintenance and improvements
Supports approved events in the building that utilize LFHS theaters (i.e. graduation, parent/student meetings, LFHS Talent Show, concerts, ceremonies)
Supports and assists the Theater Department faculty and staff with aspects of course curriculum that require the use of the theaters, tech, set, sound and lighting as needed
Manages the budget for all extracurricular theater activities with the Student Activities Director/Principal
Assists the assigned administrator with selecting advisors/directors and other affiliated roles (i.e. choreographer, costumer) for theater productions throughout the year
Assists with the creation of a yearly calendar for LFHS Theater use
Coordinates with faculty directors for any current or future stage productions
Recruits, supervises, trains, and develops students involved in Tech Crew
Assists Activities Director to resolve issues forwarded by students, parents, or directors/advisors regarding decisions made in relation to theater activities
Coordinates with parent groups to help support theater productions at LFHS
Coordinates with parent groups as related to other activities in the theater spaces at LFHS
Oversees the extra-curricular theater productions’ communication through publications and web page
Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior
Inspires others to higher levels of performance
Maintains a supportive relationship with all teachers and staff
Adapts leadership behavior to the needs of the current situation
Is respectful and open to divergent opinions
Demonstrates an understanding and is sensitive to the diverse needs of the school community
Performs other job related duties as assigned by their direct supervisor.
Adheres to Board of Education policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and Licensure
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, preferred
Master’s Degree in Theater or other related area(s) - preferred
Illinois Paraprofessional License
Experience with lighting, sound, set design, and construction
Lift certified, can be obtained within six months of employment or transfer
Competencies
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and positive problem solving attitude
Comfortable and pleasant demeanor in busy environments
Ability to:

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, grasp, feel, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, and lift. Repetitive motions are required. The employee must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly. Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and is subject to loud noises, heat, cold, humidity, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gasses, chemicals and hazards associated with moving mechanical parts and electrical current. Occasionally works in close quarters and narrow aisles and passageways.
