JOB DESCRIPTION:
Help Wanted: Full-Time Technical Director

A non-profit theatre with a diverse array of offerings, including award-winning dramas, comedies, musicals, area premieres, Broadway favorites, children's shows, live concerts, and alternative programming. In addition to its 6 show main stage season, 3 show black box season, we offer a variety of educational programs for adults and children, as well as community outreach initiatives.

We are seeking a full-time Technical Director/Master Carpenter to join our dedicated staff.

Responsibilities include:

Constructs the set as designed by the scenic designer.
Maintains all technical equipment including lights and sound.
Is able to manage volunteers in construction of the sets
Works with the Executive Director in developing effective deadlines and schedules for technical aspects of each production
Estimates set materials and labor timeline for the each production in order to maximize available resources
Works with Executive Director to develop and monitor as load in and load out of special events and rentals.
Supervises all shop volunteers and interns when applicable and conveys deadlines and priorities to them as well as insuring safe usage of shop tools
Attends production meetings
Trains stage crew in manipulation/use of light and sound board
Attends all technical rehearsals as needed
Requirements:

Strong carpentry skills.
Management and coordination skills with proven ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Skilled in planning, budget setting, and reporting.
Ability to think creatively to overcome challenges, with limited resources
Calm / Professional demeanor
Experience with reading AutoCAD and other drafting documents preferred but not necessary.
Ability to work independently and to maintain a positive work atmosphere
Work schedule varies and includes evening and weekend hours
This is a salaried position.
