JOB DESCRIPTION:
Theatre Three Productions, Inc. (Port Jefferson, Long Island) is seeking a Director of Children’s Theatre and Educational Programs.

In addition to a full Mainstage season and concert series, Theatre Three produces eight in-house children’s musicals as well as two to four educational touring programs. Over ninety percent of the productions have been original musicals created by Theatre Three writers and composers. Performers are paid adult actors drawn from the Long Island community.

The candidate would be responsible for production selection, casting, and rehearsal scheduling. The candidate would direct most productions and supervise any additional directors. They would work directly with the resident stage manager, designers, and choreographers. The candidate reports directly to the Executive Artistic Director.

The candidate would participate in staff and production meetings relating to their area. The candidate would attend Mainstage opening nights and special events.

There are opportunities for work on Mainstage productions for additional compensation.

A history of directing musicals and/or children’s theatre is a plus. The candidate must be an effective leader who can multi-task, balancing several productions simultaneously. A strong communicator, with excellent speaking and writing skills, the candidate should be comfortable with an administrative/artistic role and representing the theatre in the community.

The candidate must provide their own housing and transportation.

Target start date: June 1, 2024. This is a full-time, year-round position with irregular hours. Annual salary: $39,000.
